From Bravewords.com

As previously reported by BLACK SABBATH News last week, 30th Anniversary Editions of OZZY OSBOURNE's first two legendary solo albums featuring the late guitarist Randy Rhoads - Blizzard Of Ozz (1980) and Diary Of A Madman (1981) - are due out later this year.

"They definitely are coming out this year," Sharon Osbourne told BraveWords.com a few hours ago today (May 19th). "They are coming out for (US) Thanksgiving and they will be on the market then. It's going back to the original recordings with (Bob) Daisley (bass) and (Lee) Kerslake (drums). And there will be a lot of stuff that you haven't heard before in the packages. Like certain conversations that were going on in the studio with the guys just messing around while the tape was still rolling. All of that will be added into it."

Ozzy added jokingly - "Do I sing good?"

Sharon - "Fabulous!"

There's also talk of some visuals in the archives with Randy Rhoads? "There's two shows that we have in the archives that we are working on right now," Sharon reveals. "Of course in those days, the tapes were like twenty minutes and then you had to change the tape. So we're trying to clean it up, make sense of it. So we are working on it, along with another film we have of Randy. It will all be boxed together and it should be a great piece to have for a real fan. It will be an amazing piece."

Since their initial release twenty-three years ago, Blizzard Of Ozz and Diary Of A Madman have sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

3/19/1982 - Death of a Role Model

You know, for the passed few years, this day has always snuck up on me. As a kid it was practically a national holiday I felt, or should at least be treated as one. As busy as I've been, and for as much neglect unfortunately this site, being a hobby of mine, has had to suffer, one thing remains. After all the BS, the drama of life, heck even the drama of knuckleheads in the Randy Rhoads "online" community, when I hear Randy play, everything gets back centered again.

Life can drag you around if you let it, but when I think of Randy and his playing, it all falls back in line. Why I do what I do, what truely makes me happy, and the perseverance to do it.  A man by the name of Randy Rhoads lead his own life, in his own time, and his own way, doing what made him happy. Never did he let obstacles, internally or externally, stop him from being Randy Rhoads and leaving the mark he wanted to leave behind. He did that in 25 years. The music left behind was unlike anything else, because it was real. It wasn't because it was some kid learning to play guitar because it looks cool. It was a dedication to the craft and a natural unspoken belief in going for exactly what he wanted. Anytime I turn on Tribute after not listening to it for a while, I remember that when he played, Randy played to make the guitar speak. When you're angry you yell, when you're sad you cry, and thats what Randy made the guitar do was speak, and with the vocabulary of a distinguished scholar with a sharp tongue. Randy may have left us that day, but what he left behind continues to inspire me in all aspects of life to this day.

God bless you Randy Rhoads for reminding so many of us not to forget our names.

'Sup guys? Just a quick update on where things are at. I've got a gallery that I'm going to be installing here soon to get all the old pics back up, and I'm going to make sure the bootleg encyclopedia is working properly again. I've archived all of the old important news from the old layouts. I never got around to hosting all the bootlegs like I wanted to and actually a few others beat me to it but I'll probably still put that up just so I can feel we're more complete around here. Getting a lot of good feedback on the site, a lot of people like it, some prefer the old layout. I was shooting for something a little bit more community like, which is why I chose to go this route. I've had some people say my "new" site is a 3rd or 4th copy cat site...which I don't really get since I've had this site up since about '04, and have been 2 or 3 (sometimes 1) in Google search results for "Randy Rhoads," but I digress. I'll continue to steadily get everything up and get some more unique things going I have planned for around here I've been wanting to do for years. My web design work I do sometimes keeps me going for days on end with 20 hour days so by the time I have time to work on this site I don't want to see a computer... but we're getting there. :) Take care and I've got a sneaking suspicion one way or another there's got to be some new footage coming out soon...too much buzz about it all lately. Lets hope!

Thanks,

Metal Matt

New Footage? PDF Print E-mail

Uh oh, once again the thought of new footage is out there. After many failed attempts, close calls, and disappointments, the Randy Rhoads community is a bit sensitive when it comes to the mention of new footage. There have been a lot of false hopes and false leads or just dead ends when things seem to be finally shaping up perfectly. A few years ago we did get the Beaumont, TX footage of the warm-up which seemed to refresh a lot of us with hope, and lately there has been talks of unseen footage in the up-coming documentary by Peter Margolis. I myself am fairly happy with the ET/Two on the Town footage but even that leaves you feeling there must be more, there has to be.

But this time things seem a bit different. Special nod to the randyrhoads.tk forum for bringing this one to my attention. I don't tweet, or really follow tweets, but apparently Ozzy does and this is what he had to say -

"Just watched never before seen footage of Randy and me from 1981. I’m speechless. I will share with you later this year on a live dvd"

Hmmm, as some one else had mentioned, where there's smoke there's fire so I do have a good feeling about this one... I just hope its not "New" After Hours footage, since its never been officially released. I guess we'll just have to see what happens!
